The Naughty Boyz Dog Training (NBDT) Dog Trainer Academy program provides an intensive education on dog behaviour and training methods and is open to anyone interested in a career with dogs, doggie parents who want to ensure they are being the best guardians possible, and those who wish to expand their knowledge about dogs and dog behaviour.

Graduates of the course will earn a designation as a Certified Dog Trainer.

Program structure:

Cohort based program (6-8 students)

Most students complete the program in one year although completion time can vary depending on how fast students complete requirements

Two learning components:

Theory + hands-on work: 60 hours total​

In order to maximize learning and application, our theory and hands-on work is combined to allow you to put theory into practice right away.​

Shadowing: 50 hours (minimum)

Observe and help teach private, semi-private, and group sessions alongside Naughty Boyz trainers.​

Examination is offered twice a year and is available to students once all three program components have been completed. The exam consists of a written, a practical, and a session simulation component.

Deep understanding of dogs - evolution, senses, developmental stages, body language, and more!

Evidence behind force-free and positive reinforcement training and why we do what we do!

How to teach basic/intermediate/advanced manners (obedience)

An introduction to behavioural concerns (reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, etc.)

Advanced skills (shaping, agility, etc.)

How to conduct private sessions vs. group classes

Curriculum development

How to communicate and work with dog guardians
