My name is Liz and I am a co-owner of Naughty Boyz Dog Training and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA). I am a member of the Pet Professional Guild and am completing my Professional Canine Behaviour Consultant designation through them. I am also currently undertaking a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer designation.
I am passionate about working with dogs and human teams to discover the joy that comes with understanding our dog's needs and embracing them fully. I believe that when we work towards meeting our dog's needs and focus on their happiness, life changes for the better for both the dogs and humans in the relationship. I am skilled at using evidence-based positive reinforcement training and behavior modification techniques that are humane, effective, and safe to address a wide variety of mild to severe behavioural concerns. I have multiple years of experience volunteering with rescue dogs and have been a foster home myself. I’ve previously worked as a trainer for a national animal assisted wellness program and contributed regularly to CBC in 2020/2021. With my colleagues, I’ve facilitated multiple corporate educational sessions and am a lead instructor in the NBDT Dog Training Academy. I’ve worked in both group and private formats supporting pups with a variety of concerns, ranging from puppy potty training to severe aggression and I have a special interest in Separation Anxiety and complex reactivity/aggression cases.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and a Master's of Public Health from the University of Alberta. I also hold a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Toronto. I am obsessed with continuing my canine behavioural education by taking part in training and behavior courses, seminars, workshops, and online learning. I am lucky to share my home with my husband and our four dogs: Fritz, Gary, Hawk, and Allie.
